Oak Harbor ambulance will continue helping people in Mexico

     An ambulance that has helped countless people in the Oak Harbor area is headed to Mexico where it will continue providing emergency medical transportation to those in need.

     The ambulance– owned by  Oak Harbor residents Melvin and Wanda McCord– has been donated  to the Oak Harbor Rotary Club, which will be shipping the ambulance to  Mexico through its medical equipment and supplies abroad (MESA) program.

According to a rotary club write-up, Ron Heiks was instrumental in getting the ambulance in the MESA program.

 

 

 

     “Ron was the person who learned that Melvin and Wanda McCord were willing to donate an ambulance to MESA after retiring from their ambulance service, which they operated for 23 years.”

Rotary club president, Mike Stone, international service committee chairman Ron Buehler, an the entire Oak Harbor rotary club are excited and proud about the contribution they have been able to make to the MESA program.

     A dedication ceremony attended by several rotary club members, including MESA director Ron Stoner, was held on Wednesday, December 28th.  Following the ceremony, the ambulance was shipped off to Mexico.
